Professional sim racer for Referox. Dutch ACC champion. FIA Motorsport Games competitor. Coaching in English and Dutch for beginners, league racers and endurance drivers.
Sim racing coaching is more than lap time
One fast lap is useful, but repeatable pace matters more in races. In 1-on-1 coaching, Abe Santema looks at how you drive, how you make decisions and where your performance changes under pressure.
The coaching focuses on a stronger foundation: technique, consistency, racecraft, control, mental focus and race preparation. The session is built around your level, simulator and goal.
ABEX Works is not a large anonymous coaching platform. You work directly with Abe, from the first intake to the coaching session itself.

Who is 1-on-1 sim racing coaching for?
This coaching is built for sim racers who want clear feedback and a more structured way to improve. It fits beginners, league racers and more experienced drivers who want to work on pace, consistency, racecraft or preparation.
You are new to sim racing
You work on the basics: car control, braking, racing lines and confidence. The goal is to build good habits early.
You have stopped improving
You drive regularly, but the same mistakes keep coming back. Coaching helps you understand what causes them.
You want more consistency
One fast lap is not enough in racing. We look at repeatable pace, fewer mistakes and control over a full stint.
You want better racecraft
You work on traffic, overtaking, defending, positioning and decision-making under pressure.
You want to use data better
Replay, inputs and telemetry can show where time is lost. Abe helps you turn that information into practical training.
You are preparing for a race or league
You work on race pace, strategy, consistency and preparation for a specific event, league or endurance race.
You drive ACC, iRacing or LMU
Coaching is adapted to your simulator, car and track. ACC, iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate are common examples.
You want personal feedback
You work directly with Abe. The feedback is based on your driving, not on a generic lesson plan.
You want to train with a clear goal
You define what you want to improve, such as braking, exits, focus, tyre management or race decisions.

Coaching is not built around random tips. The focus depends on your level, simulator, car, track and goal. Together, these details decide how you drive and where you lose time.
Driving technique
Work on car control, timing, inputs and the way you build speed through a lap.
Racecraft
Improve decisions in traffic, overtaking, defending, positioning and racing under pressure.
Braking points
Review where you brake, how hard you brake and how your braking affects grip, rotation and corner speed.
Trail braking
Learn how to release brake pressure into the corner, so the car rotates better and stays more stable.
Racing lines and apex
Analyse line choice, turn-in, apex and exit so you use more of the track and carry speed more effectively.
Corner exits
Work on throttle application, steering angle and traction. Exits often decide a large part of your lap time.
Throttle control
Learn how to apply throttle more precisely, especially on cold tyres, in traffic or when the car is unstable.
Consistency
Build repeatable pace, reduce mistakes and keep more control over a stint, race or full practice session.
Data and telemetry
Use data, replay or telemetry where relevant to see where time is lost and which change matters most.
Race strategy
Look at risk, track position, pit timing, traffic and how to make better decisions across a race.
Mental focus
Work on concentration, staying calm after mistakes and keeping performance stable when pressure increases.
Race preparation
Prepare for a race, league or endurance event with clear training priorities, focus points and goals.

Replay, telemetry and feedback where it matters
During coaching, Abe can review your driving style, replay, inputs, braking points, throttle application, racing lines and telemetry where relevant.
Some drivers need live feedback and replay review. Others benefit from telemetry, setup feedback, mental preparation or a clearer training plan. The session is shaped around your level, simulator and goal.
The aim is not to cover everything at once. The aim is to find the areas that matter most for your driving and turn them into practical training points.
If car balance is part of the problem, you can also view the available ACC setups.
Replay review
Replay makes your driving visible: where you turn in, how you use the track and where time is lost.
Telemetry and inputs
Telemetry can help with braking pressure, throttle use, speed, lines and differences between laps.
Training points
Feedback is translated into clear focus points you can keep working on after the session.
Setup feedback
If setup matters, Abe can look at car balance and how the setup fits your driving style or circuit.
Mental preparation
Coaching can include focus, pressure, mistakes and how to stay calm over multiple laps.
Follow-up questions
Longer coaching cards can leave room for follow-up, questions and extra feedback between sessions.
Not every session uses the same tools. The right approach depends on your simulator, level, goal and available data.
Examples of lap analysis
Watch two short examples of how a lap can be reviewed: braking points, line choice, exits, positioning and time loss. These are general track guides, not full coaching sessions.
Coaching for beginners and advanced sim racers
1-on-1 coaching is adapted to your level. You do not need to be an esports driver to start, and you do not need experience with telemetry. The session starts from where you are now.
If you are a beginner
The focus is on building a strong foundation. You learn how to understand the car, use the track, brake with more control and make fewer basic mistakes.
- Braking points and basic car control
- Racing lines and apex choice
- Throttle timing and corner exits
- Confidence in traffic
- Clear training points after the session
If you are more advanced
The focus becomes more specific. You work on smaller details that affect pace, consistency, racecraft and performance during longer races or league events.
- Telemetry, replay and input analysis
- Consistency over a stint
- Racecraft and decision-making
- Setup direction where relevant
- Race preparation and mental focus

Abe Santema did not start as a coach. He started as a racer. His background in cycling gave him discipline, focus and a structured way of looking at training. He later brought that same approach into sim racing.
What started in public online races grew into competitive sim racing at a high level. Abe became Dutch champion in Assetto Corsa Competizione and represented the Netherlands at the FIA Motorsport Games.
His experience with Esports Talent Center Gelderland and the NOC*NSF high-performance sports environment in the Netherlands also shapes how he coaches, together with his Esports Sports & Event Management education.
For Abe, coaching is useful when it helps a driver understand what happens on track. The goal is not only to say what should improve, but to explain why it happens and how you can train it in a focused way.
Frequently asked questions about 1-on-1 sim racing coaching
Below you will find practical answers about the intake, session length, prices, simulators, telemetry, younger drivers and coaching options.
